About Us

EAA Chapter 1440 is located on Seattle's "Eastside", and held it’s first meeting in Feb. 2006. We formally incorporated later that year with a group of aviation enthusiasts from the Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kirkland, and Redmond areas east of Seattle. Meetings are normally held the 3rd Tuesday of the month at various locations, starting at 7:00 PM. (we meet at King County Libraries when possible to keep costs down). Feel free to contact any of our officers if you’re interested in joining our chapter.

Meeting Format

We usually spend the first 20 minutes of each meeting socializing, followed by introduction of new members and visitors, a very brief business meeting, project updates (of course!), and on most occasions we have an aviation-related presentation. Thanks to Seattle's local aviation environment, we’ve been lucky enough to have had presentations by Microsoft Flight Sim, Precision Airmotive, Dynon, and others.

How We Communicate
As a group we tend to be on the techie end of the spectrum, which reflects our location in the middle of software heaven.

We run an email list on Yahoo Groups that is relatively low traffic. Visit groups.yahoo.com/group/eastsideeaa/ to sign up. We strongly urge you to avoid "digest mode" or even worse not sending you any email at all. You'll miss important announcements if you set things up that way.

And as mentioned on our home page, we share things on Facebook, like most of the rest of the world. You can find us at www.facebook.com/groups/EAA1440/.

How to Join

Contact our Treasurer, Jason Hills at eaa1440@gmail.com, and note your intent to join. He'll need your name, address, preferred email address, National EAA number, and any project interests you have. He will then forward you a PayPal invoice for annual dues ($20).

What We Expect From You

This is your chapter. In the same manner that you build a plane, you also build your EAA chapter. If you attend, participate. If you join, build the chapter by taking on a role such as program chairman, board member, etc. We are action oriented, and seek like-minded members.

One More Thing

The Eastside is loaded with technology geeks, and our chapter reflects that demographic. As you probably already noticed, we are a very tech-oriented group of folks. We want prospective members to know that we welcome you whatever walk of life you come from--after all, we're about airplanes, not technology. However prospective members should be aware that we assume you have a computer. Accordingly, we do not mail out traditional paper newsletters, meeting notices, or invoices.
